Shooting with Jemina and her little bun in the oven, Myah was a blast! We were able to elaborate on the intimate bond between a mother and her child in the womb. We shot in one of my favorite forest areas to get the look we were going for and in between shots were able to speak more about the whole pregnancy experience. Jemina ended up telling me her story regarding her search for a photographer to handle her maternity photos and it was most definitely one to remember. She told me how she looked at a few photographers, being myself and two others. The two others who she happened to contact before me didn't quite sit well with her, but more importantly, didn't sit well with her daughter! She told me how while she was looking over the other photographers' work, Myah made movements inside of her that she never usually makes, almost as if she was uncomfortable. Then she told me that when considering me, Myah was calm and at peace, almost as if she was choosing me herself. CRAZY, RIGHT?! This was one of the most beautiful and truly spiritual things I'd ever heard and made me respect the bond between and mother and child so much more!
Beyond the memories made whilst shooting with Jemina and Myah, the entire experience was awesome. There's a certain relaxation trait to shooting maternity portraits that you don't necessarily get shooting any other types of photography.
